Club Development

Club Development Meeting takes place next Monday

With phase one of our 3 phase development plan complete with Ireland's finest All Weather Pitch in place, the club are now moving onto phase 2 which will include new dressing room's and a new hurling wall. A major fundraising drive is in place to complete Phase as soon as possible. A club day at the races on Wednesday April 23th will hopefully so us raise enough fund to complete Phase 2 in no time.

St Brigids GAA club (Dublin and Leinster Senior Football Champions of 2003) launched one of the most ambitious developments in the GAA community last night. With over 60 active teams and a thriving Handball section (which boasts Mens Senior All Ireland Champion Eoin Kennedy), St Brigids is one of the biggest GAA clubs in Ireland in an area that has experienced rapid population growth.

The development committee , Chaired by Michael O Muircheartaigh, have structured the development in four distinct phases. Phase one will provide a full size floodlight all weather adult and juvenile playing pitch at a cost of ?1.2m. Phase two will see the construction of additional changing rooms and shower facilities. Current Chairman Ronan Barrett is confident that the first phase will be open for use and rental this coming winter with phase two quickly following suit. "There will be an extensive fund raising campaign beginning immediately with A membership drive to fund the development which will also be supported by the National Lottery and Fingal county council.

Phase three will include the construction of a new natural grass pitch together with a hurling wall, a gym, a medical treatment room and the upgrading of all existing Russell Park pitches. Advertising space on pitch perimeters is currently being snapped up by local and national businesses but there are still a few slots available. Interested parties are asked to e-mail info@stbrigidsgaa.com for further details.

The final phase will see the upgrading of the existing community facilities to include offices, meeting rooms, kitchen, new club shop and function rooms which will cater for all community activities. The explosive population growth in Dublin 15 together with the lack of other community, sports and recreational facilities in the Blanchardstown & Castleknock area make this development an immediate priority. As Michael O Muircheartaigh stated " the essence of progress is that it never ceases and in hindsight additional sporting facilities are always seen as an extraordinary beneficial investment in youth".
