They dominated for long periods of the match. Ballymun could not find the gears necessary to match St Brigids superior fitness and football ability. The match played in Beech Park was a free flowing encounter with both sides imposing their styles of play on the game. St Brigids started the better of the sides and with the aid of two points from corner forward Willie Tyrell. The Ballymun fullback line was showing signs of frailty and the St Brigids team sensed this. They continually hit the corners where a man was always in space. St Brigids were soon rewarded for these pin point accurate balls with a goal when Willie Tyrell ran onto a ball in the corner and he supplied the on running corner forward Rory McGowan with a beautiful cross field pass. Rory McGowan finished the ball to the net with calmness personified. Ballymun soon replied with two quick points from impressive corner forward John Ronan. St Brigids finished the half the stronger with three quick fire points from Alan Beirne, Stephen Cassidy and Willie Tyrell. Willa Corbett turned his man and passed to Stephen Cassidy who pointed from close range. Willie Tyrell slotted over a forty-five showing that he just isn?t a dead ball specialist in Hurling. St Brigids started the second half as they finished the first when Kevin Bonfil won the throw in and passed the ball to Willa Corbett who slotted over 40 metres on his left foot. Ballymun responded with their best period of play for the game. They fired over three points to reduce the deficit to three points but this was the nearest Ballymun were to get to St Brigids.
