U11 Hurlers versus Raheny - Sat, 12 Jun 2004

St. Brigids 4-2   Raheny 3-3

On Saturday morning St. Brigids, led by captain and birthday boy Sean Clarke and welcoming back Conor Nash from a broken ankle, recorded their fourth win out of five with spirited performance over a lively and skilful Raheny side.

Raheny got off to a good start with an early goal. St. Brigids, once they settled began to create chances with Eoin O?Hehir very solid at full back, great clearances from centre back Paul Winters and a towering performance in midfield by Ronan McKenna.

One of the features of the Brigids play was effective blocking and harrying epitomised by Gerald O?Halloran, Mickey Ebbs and Conor Hanley. Goals from Ronan and Conor Clarke, following some lovely ground hurling from Gavin Henry and Brian Cronin, gave Brigids the half-time advantage.

The introduction of Daragh Henry and Aaron Carolan at half-time brought fresh impetus to the Brigids attack who increased their lead with a lovely Daragh Doyle goal and two frees from Ronan McKenna. Raheny hit back to bring the sides level and seemed to be heading for a draw. With only minutes to go, the two Ross?s came to the fore. Ross Mullen with lovely wrist work flicked a smashing goal to the net from an excellent Shane McGrath delivery.

At the other end, Ross Cunningham made a great save from a piledriver heading for the net. The fresh legs of Conor Nash and Mark Donnolly helped Brigids to run out the slender but deserved winners.
