Junior 3s versus Finbars - Sun, 25 Jul 2004 St Brigids 1-15 St Finbarrs 0-1
Brigids carried on their good form with a comfortable win versus Finbars played in Russell Park. It was a game, which Brigids got stuck into from the start where they took an early command of affairs. First to register on the score sheet was Willa Corbett who after good play with Alan Beirnie he popped over a well taken score from close range. From the resulting kick out a well taken ball from Ciaran Brennan was played into Corbett who turned and slotted it over the bar.
Next to get on the scoresheet was Alan Beirnie who in a couple of minutes he scored 1-2. Which left Brigids 1-4 to no score up after ten minutes. The goal came from good inter play between Stephen Moore and Ciaran Brennan who put Beirnie through who finished with a great degree of composure to the top corner.
For the remainder of the half Brigids dominated with an outstanding display from Brian Smyth at half back who?s energetic runs forward tormented Finbars. Next to score for Brigids was Stephen Cassidy who finished following good work from centre back Alan Hughes. Before half time further points were added with two fine scores coming from centre forward Seamus Lynam. Also to get on the scoresheet before half time were Willa Corbett with two more points and Stephen Moore. So at half time Brigids lead 1-10 to no score.
On the resumption Finbars rallied with a fine individual score from their wing forward. But once again Brigids resumed control after this with Stephen Cassidy scoring a fine point after a good ball from midfielder Kevin Bonfil. This was closely followed by a Alan Beirnie point from close in.
With ten minutes to go Brigids lead 1-12 to 0-1 and Brigids proceeded to punish Finbars with a Willa Corbett free. And also a great run by Collie Freeman from the half back line who remained calm to slot it over the bar with his left. The final score of the game fell to Ciaran Brennan who finish a good move which was started by full back John Duffy.
