Junior Hurlers versus St Judes in Championship Semi-Final - Sun, 3 Oct 2004 St Brigids 1-6 St Judes 1-11 Played in less than ideal conditions in on a balmy Sunday morning, this match was an enthralling encounter between two very evenly matched teams. St Judes settled the quicker and fired over 4 unanswered points in the opening ten minutes. St Brigids registered their first score with a superb score from David Smith, splitting the posts from 65 yards. However, St Judes responded within minutes and quickly asserted a hold in midfield where Brigids were finding quality ball hard to come by. St Judes added two further points through their impressive midfielder Conor Smith. Brigids were under severe pressure but their defence anchored by stalwart full-back, David Brooks, coped very well with this pressure and from a great clearance by captain Brooks, full forward Brendan Farrell pounced to find the back of the net for St Brigids. Farrell firing the ball to the roof of the net after hesitation in the St Judes fullback line. Brigids were starting to assert their influence on the game and when midfielder David Smith got his hands on the sliotar and stormed his way through the Judes defence and rifled the ball over the bar, the game was back in the melting pot. St Judes responded to St Brigids pressure and the sliotar was very soon in the heart of Brigids defence again. Judes rifled over two quick-fire points to lengthen the gap to three but St Brigids continued to battle. Aidan O?Leary narrowed the gap to two after some fine work in midfield from Vinnie Bruen. Bruen fielding the sliotar and laying the sliotar off to the on running O?Leary who pointed from close range to leave two between the sides at half time. Scorers: David Smith 0-4, Brendan Farrell 1-0, Maurice Healy 0-1 & Aidan O Leary 0-1 Half Time: St Brigids 1-3 St Judes 0-8
