Inter Hurlers versus Crumlin in Championship Semi-Final - Sun, 3 Oct 2004 St Brigids 0-10 Crumlin 0-6 St Brigids Intermediate Hurlers continued their rich vain of form as they deservedly won this hard-hitting championship encounter against a very physical Crumlin side. St Brigids fully deserved to progress to the championship final as they showed real determination and character to defeat a skilful Crumlin side. St Brigids showed great hunger, never letting Crumlin settle on the ball. Crumlin won the toss and decided to play with the aid of a strong wind but it was St Brigids who started very well and within ten minutes they had opened up a two-point gap. St Brigids were always first to the ball and the Crumlin backs were finding the St Brigids forwards tough to mark. St Brigids first touch was crisp which always gave them the extra second to look up and pick out a free man. The impressive Noel Kidd opened the scoring for St Brigids as he beautifully pointed from the left wing after some great defensive work from Ian Sheedy. Within minutes, St Brigids struck for their second point as Willie Tyrell rifled the ball over the ball. The point was just deserts for the great defensive work from Glenn Markey and Sean Fraine. Sean Fraine blocking down Crumlin danger man Ian Hartley and Glen Markey picking up the loose ball to supply Stephen Kelly who broke through several tackles to supply Tyrell who rifled the ball over the bar with his usual calmness. Noel Kidd & Dave Long were causing major problems for the Crumlin defence. Kidd soon added another point to his tally from the right wing. Ian Sheedy supplying a lovely cross-field ball to the on running Kidd. Crumlin responded with a beautiful individual point from midfielder Sean Regan. Crumlin were beginning to get a foot hold in the game especially their half forward line who's pace was a major cause for concern. Crumlin drew even closer to St Brigids with the aid of a fine point from midfielder Noel Lynch who rifled the ball over the bar from distance on the right wing. Crumlin tails were up and they added a further point to level the match through centre forward Keith Leech. St Brigids rallied with Dave Long pointing after a great mazy run through the Crumlin defence. Midfield was a real battlefield with no quarter been given by both sides. Willie Tyrell & Tommy Fitzsimons with their inspirational fielding and electric running were driving St Brigids forward. Crumlin responded with a late pointed free to level the match up before half time. St Brigids came out fighting after the break to edge ahead by a point. The point coming from danger man Noel Kidd. St Brigids began to move up through the gears and were applying serious pressure on the Crumlin defence. Dave Long was a real thorn in the Crumlin defence. St Brigids within minutes had opened up a three point with substitute Declan Powell scoring a great individual point after pulling on the sliotar from twenty yards out. Mickey O Sullivan also pointing after capitalising on a sloppy clearance from the Crumlin defence. Wilie Tyrell capped a great performance when slotting over from the left wing to end Crumlin's hopes. Crumlin responded with two late points but were unable to get that elusive goal. The St Brigids back-line's tackling & harassment was restricting the Crumlin forwards to limited touches around the 21-yard line. St Brigids ended the match four points to the good and now advance to a Championship Final meeting against St Finnian's of Swords.
