Junior 1 Footballers crowned Conlon Cup Champions - Wed, 14 Dec 2005

St Brigids 0-9 St Peregrines 0-5

A strong second half performance saw the Juniors 1s capture the Conlon cup and bring Violet Muldoons side some deserved silverware. St Peregrines had the better of the opening exchanges, and aided with a strong breeze, lead by 0-4 to 0-1after twenty minutes.

Brigids slowly began to take over in the middle of the field with Enda Kane and Conor Clavin coming more and more to the fore. Stephen Kelly kicked a fine score to leave 2 points between the sides at half time.

Immediately from the throw in Brigids took control and three scores from Kevin Donovan and one from the impressive Loran McCarthy saw Brigids stamp their control on the game. Brigids never looked back from this and further points from Donovan, Conor Clavin and half back Mick McGovern saw Brigids home by 4 points.

It was a testament to the strength of the St Brigids back line that St Peregrines only managed to score once in the second half with the full back line of Aidan Lynch, Conor Kelly and Chris Dorney particularly impressive.
