What a match! Two fine teams so evenly matched that there hasn't been more than 2 point's between them in their last 3 encounters. Brigid's may have felt they had some unfinished business after last years league campaign where they finished runners up to Boden in controversial circumstance over a final game which was never played.

This encounter produced no less than 11 Goals and it was Boden who opened the scoring with a point from a free. Daire Plunkett responded immediately and it went on like this with tit for tat scoring until Gavin McIntyre put the ball in the Boden net to open up the narrowest of leads for Brigids. Boden scored a goal shortly afterwards and in an outstanding passage of play Daire Plunkett scored 5 points in a row from play and frees.

Boden were next to score a goal only to have Daire Plunkett reply almost immediately with his 6th score on the trot off a Jamie Winters free. Yet another goal from Boden with an even quicker one handed reply from Philip Carroll yielded a half time scoreline of 2-4 for Boden to 3-5 for Brigid's giving Brigid's a 2 point advantage as they faced into a 2nd half uphill and against the wind. Outstanding for Brigid's in the first half were Alan McCarrick, Alan Waters and Ryan McEnerin who defended brilliantly at the back.

If the first haf was exciting the 2nd half was even more so. Alan McCarrick opened the scoring for Brigids with Niall Lambe (lambo) replying quickly for Boden. A point from Daire Plunkett and a 2nd Goal from Philip Carroll saw Brigids being to creep ahead but only for a minute or two as Boden replied with 2 goals on the trot. By now both sides were down to fourteen players and the match was at it's peak. Gavin McIntyre and Conor Woodgate contributed points at this stage and another two goals from Boden saw them go 3 points ahead of Brigids at 6-6 to 4-9 and with less than 5 minutes to go Ballyboden looked to have had the match sewn up.

However there were to be no more scores from Boden and Philip Carroll ended a fine performance by scoring his 3rd goal which Daire Plunkett promptly followed up with the final score of the game catching the ball high in the air from a McCarrick pass to give Brigid's a well deserved 1 point victory.
