U11 Ladies Footballers defeat Kilmacud in Championship - Fri, 27 May 2005 St Brigids 2-8 Kilmacud Crokes 0-0 The St Brigid's girls went into this game determined to turn the tables on Kilmacud following the previous nights disappointing loss in the Senior Football Championship. Starting the match at whirlwind pace, Sinead O'Farrelly scored a great individual goal to set the tone for the game. Every ball was keenly foughtfor in the first half and great work by the St Brigid's defence ensured Kilmacud went to into the break scoreless. Meanwhile, a goal from Michelle Horan and 2 points from play from Sinead O'Farrelly left Brigids 2-2 to 0-0 in front at half time. The second half began with St Brigids coming under strong pressure from Kilmacud. But resolute defence by a back line led by Aideen Brennan and ably supported by sterling performances from Susan Ruane, Siobhan Cahill, Megan Sheridan and Emma Skehan, kept Kilmacud at bay throughout the game. When they did threaten to score, Sarah Ryan in goal comfortably dealt with all they could throw at her. Meanwhile at the other end, Sinead O'Farrelly knocked over another 4 points from play with hard working mid fielders Sophie Freeman and Deidre Murphy adding a point a piece. While this unbeaten Kilmacud side worked hard all the way they could not compete with the great teamwork and determination of the St Brigid?s girls, who ran out convincing winners by 2-8 to 0-0.
