Junior 2 Footballers defeat Thomas Davis in League - Mon, 13 Jun 2005

St Brigids 1-15 Thomas Davis 0-8

Brigids showed some fine finishing to win out this match as it was hard fought throughout. From the start where they took an early command of affairs. First to register on the score sheet was Willa Corbett who after good play with Alan Beirnie he popped over a well taken score from close range. From the resulting kick out a well taken ball from  Seamus Lynam was played into Corbett who turned and slotted it over the bar.

Next to get on the scoresheet was Paul Whitty. Which left Brigids 0-3 to no score. Thomas Davis then kicked a fine point from their centre fielder Fran Kevilahan to registar their first score on the board. Brigids then scored again from Paul Whitty following good work from Joe Twomey   Then Thomas Davis came right back into it with three fine scores to level at four each.

Next to score for Brigids was Cian O'Sullivan following a great run from the half back line which he finished well with his left. He was followed next on the scoreboard by his brother Eoin who kicked a fine score from forty yards following good work from centre back Alan Hughes. Before half time further points were added with two fine scores coming from Declan Barron. But again Thomas Davis rallied with three points on the trot with their half backline and midfield driving forward. Also to get on the scoresheet before half time was Willa Corbett with a fine free from 35 yards out, which was followed by a great goal following a great ball from Stephen Moore. So at half time it was 1-9 to 0-7 in favour of the Brigids men.

On the resumption Thomas Davis rallied with a fine individual score from their wing forward. But once again Brigids resumed control after this with Stephen Moore feeding the ever deadly Willa Corbett who in turn scored a fine point. From the following kick out Seamus Lynam passed to Paul Whitty to score from 20 yards. Thomas Davis then responded with a fine score from their centre back to tighten things up. This was closely followed by an Alan Beirnie point from close in.

With ten minutes to go Brigids lead 1-12 to 0-8 and Brigids proceeded to punish Thomas Davis with a Willa Corbett free. And also a great point from Stephen Moore from far out following good work by Niall Ryan at the back.
The final score of the game fell to Willa Corbett who finished a good move which was started by full back John Duffy.
