Ladies Senior Footballers defeat Man O War in League - Fri, 24 Jun 2005

St Brigids 1-7 Man O War 0-4

Brigid's travelled out to Man O War for their second encounter with the North Dublin side. Man O War are the only team to have beaten Brigid's in their campaign to date so it was going to be a tough match for them. Both teams looked strong from the whistle with both sides having equal possession in this first half. Brigid's had a few scoring chances early on but failed to convert. Lyndsay Kilmurray got the first score for Brigid's while Aimee Molloy followed with another one shortly after. Man O War were creating a few chances at the other end but were finding it difficult to score. They got a free 20 yards out and scored for their first point of the game.  Brigid's managed another point before half time to finish ahead 0-3 to Man O War's 0-1

Second half Brigid's were playing down the hill which was an advantage. Mary Holland came on for Fin Ni Dhomhnaill and took a great pass from Lyndsay Kilmurray to open the scoring in the second half for Brigid's. Shortly after, Man O War responded with a quick point from a free. Brigid's had more possession this half and were making use of the space. A  super move involving Orla Brennan, Mary Holland and finally to Lyndsay Kilmurray resulted in a well deserved goal for Brigid's.
Man O War struggled to come back managing only 1 point from free and one from play this half. Goalkeeper Fiona Clifford was called upon on 2 occasions during the game but both times was solid as a rock and cleared the Brigid's line with ease. Brigid's looked the fitter in the end. Further points from Barbara Kelly and Lyndsay Kilmurray sealed the win for Brigid's. Overall a good team performance. They will face this team for one final time in the Championship final on the 3rd August.
