Ladies Senior Footballers defeat Parnells in League Encounter - Tue, 26 Jul 2005

St Brigid's 2-17 vs Parnells 4-4

St Brigid's got off to a much better start than in their last encounter against Parnells. Parnells got the first point of the game shortly after the throw in, however, Brigid's followed this with a goal and 9 points before Parnells managed to get another score. We saw some great runs from all the forwards especially from our midfielder Rose Holland  who scored an excellent goal. Colleen Barrett was in flying form scoring 3 points in the first half and was causing serious problems for Parnells. Parnells midfielder Lindsay Pete made excellent runs towards the end of the first half resulting in a goal and a point for the home team.

Second half, Parnells had really changed their form and were on the ball from the whistle. Again Lindsay Pete was causing serious problems using her physical strength to plough down the middle creating almost all the scoring chances for her side. However, Brigid's were consistent and stayed in front with another great goal from Rose Holland and points from Mary Galvin and Barbara Kelly. Colleen Barrett managed another 2 scores on her debut with the senior team. It was a much more competitive half all round but Brigid's were winners on this occasion finishing with a tally of 2-17 to Parnells 4-4.

Brigid's play in the semi final of the championship against Man O War in Russell Park on Wednesday 3rd August so please come and support!
