Ladies Senior Footballers defeated by St Marks in Challenge - Mon, 1 Aug 2005 St Marks 2-10 St Brigid's 1-02 There was a bit of a set back for Brigid's ladies as they lost out to Marks this week in a cup challenge. Given that their county player Louise Keegan was missing due to illness along with one or 2 other key players, it was a mediocre performance all around. The first half saw Mark's with most possession, getting a lot of the breaking ball at mid field. Paula Bruen was goalkeeper for Brigid's on the day and had an outstanding performance coming right off her line to make some great saves. Mark?s were quite strong while Brigid's were finding it difficult to find their form in this half. Brigid's did get a few scoring chances but were unable to convert. However, Mary Galvin did find the back of the net just before half time with lovely goal. Second half saw an improvement in Brigid's and a few more scoring chances were created in this half. Mary Holland and Miriam Lowry were brought on for Brigid's which strengthened with the team further. However despite 2 points from Barbara Kelly, Brigid's were unable to claw back what they had given away and Mark's went out winners on this occasion. With Championship semi final this week, Brigid's will hope to have their full strength team back and wil be hoping to secure their place in the intermediate Championship final on the 12th August.Best of luck girls.
