Improving U11 Hurlers defeat Table Toppers St Maurs - Thu, 1 Sep 2005

St. Brigids resumed their league campaign after the summer break with a clash with current table-toppers St. Maurs, at Russell Park. The Rush side started strongly and had the home side under siege early on. However, sterling work from the Brigids backs kept the visitors at bay and gradually the home side settled down.

When a supply of ball was eventually delivered to the forwards, Ciaran O'Sullivan and Donal Burke rattled the Maurs net in quick succession. A further point from play from Paul Winters, and a goal from the visitors left Brigids leading by 2-1 to 1-0 at half time. Maurs started the second half strongly, and an early point left just a single score between the teams.

However, Brigids responded superbly. Driven on by further scores from man of the match O'Sullivan and Winters, the home side gradually extended their lead. A late goal from Maurs proved to be a consolation score. This was a great performance from this improving team!
