U21 Footballers draw with Round Towers in Champo Q-Final - Sun, 5 Mar 2006

St Brigids 3-5 Round Towers 1-11

A hard fought game with Round Towers. Both teams had spells of dominance in the opening half. Towers opened well, registering 2 points in the opening minutes. Willa Corbett opened St Brigids account with a finely taken free. Towers were quick to respond with full forward Corrigan slotting over.

Brigids soon found their stride with Willa Corbett firing to the net, reacting quickest to the ball rebounding from the post. Brigids began to motor with Andrews firing over a superb point to stretch their lead to three points. Towers dug in & some fine defensive work resulted in corner forward McLoughin firing over the first of two superb points. Towers began to get a foothold in the middle of the park & a misplaced defensive clearance resulting in Towers taking the lead with a finely taken goal. Brigids soon fought back and found the back of the net when Paddy Andrews bravely punched the ball to the net after some fine link play between Ordhan McCann and Paddy Kelly.

Towers levelled up the game within seconds of the restart but Brigids soon found their stride and opened up a four point lead with Mark Cahill finding the net after shipping several hard tackles. Paddy Kelly pointed after some great defensive work from Brian Smyth and Des Carolan. Carolan finding McCann who fed Kelly. Towers wouldn't lie down and levelled up the game with four well taken points, the pick from corner forward McLoughin. Brigids again responded with Ordhan McCann firing over from close range but Towers surged up the field to level the game. Lads, Best of Luck in the replay & keep up the good work.
