Garda edge out Senior Ladies Footballers in entertaining Cup Game - Wed, 5 Apr 2006

Garda 4-08 St Brigid's 1-09

Brigid's Senior ladies played their first match since being promoted to Division 1 this year. They met Garda in Russell park. It took almost the whole of the 1st half for brigid's to settle although there were some good passages of play from Orla Brennan, C McGroary and Colleen Barrett up front. Brigid's lacked confidence a bit and found it very hard to score in the first half having many wides from play and only a point or 2 from frees. On the other hand, Garda used their physical strength and experience in this division to find the back of the net on a few occasions in the first half.

The second half saw a much better display of football from the Russell park side, they had gained their confidence and it wasn't long before Colleen Barrett got a goal and a couple of points. Brigid's pretty much dominated this half although the goals that Garda had got in the first half made all the difference. Patricia Bruen had an excellent game at wing back and even managed a point from play in this half.
