U14 Boys Footballers perform Brilliantly to reach Dublin Feile Final - Wed, 3 May 2006 Well done to the U14 Feile Footballers who produced some fine performances to reach the Feile Final. Day one of the Feile was played in Porterstown. The lads were in a tough group which consisted of Naomh Barrog, St Pats & St Thomas's. They suffered a setback in their opening group game going down 1-7 to 0-2 to St Thomas's. The pressure was really on going into the 2nd group game but the lads produced a fine perfromance to fire 7 goals past Feile favourites Naomh Barrog. The lads entered the last game knowing that a win would secure passage to the Semi-Finals to be held in Lucan later that day. The lads duly delivered with a 12 point victory over St Pats.

Lucan, trained by Dublin Minor Dual Star John McCaffrey had built up quite a reputation in the group stages. They were a well drilled side. Brigids started off the Semi-Final brilliantly firing in 1-1 in the opening 5 minutes. The hosts were shell shocked. The lads didn't stop there! They opening up a 7 point lead which would be severely tested in the second half. Lucan started the second half very well but Brigids kept on responding with points but when Lucan fired home a goal with 10 minutes remaining, only 3 points seperated the team. Lucan soon levelled up affairs with three excellent points. Brigids were on the rack but summonded up a last effort and pointed to lead with minutes remaining. Lucan responded with a levelling point but Brigids were not be denied as they went ahead in injury time with a sublime point. The lads travelled to St Peregrines knowing that they were in for a tough game against St Thomas's. St Thomas's played very well & deserved their victory on a scoreline of 4-9 to 0-4. Well done to the lads on reaching the final & a special thank-you to the large crowds who turned out to support the team. A Big thanks to the management team of Phelim, Liam, Stress & Eammon. The Hurling Feile is next up on the weekend of May 13th. St Brigids will be hosting the event. |
