U21 Footballers Suffer Champo Final Heartbreak after Extra Time - Mon, 15 May 2006 Hard Luck to the U21 Footballers who were narrowly defeated by St Judes in the Championship Final One point seperated the sides at the end, St Judes just edging it 1-9 to 0-11. Kevin McMenimen winning the game for St Judes with the last kick of extra-time. Judes started the better of the sides firing in 1-1 in the opening minutes but Brigids were soon on level terms with some fine points from Colin Lynch, James Brogan & Paddy Andrews. The sides were level at the break on a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-5. Judes edged ahead by 2 points at the start of the second half but St Brigids fought back superbly to lead by 2 with five minutes remaining. Judes narrowed the gap to one point entering injury time & sent the game into extra time with a point in the fifth minute of injury time. Extra-time was very tense and only three points were scored. Judes scored the only point in the first half of extra-time to lead at the break. Ordhan McCann scored the leveller with 2 minutes remaining of the second peroid & the game looked destined for a replay but Judes grabbed the winner with the last kick of the game.
