Junior C Footballers Close In on League Title defeating Ballyfermot - Wed, 8 Nov 2006

St Brigids 1-16 Ballyfermot 0-3

St Brigids Junior C Footballers maintained their 100% League record defeating Ballyfermot with ease. The lads have won 12 out of 12 & are six points clear at the top of the table with 3 games remaining.

St Brigids elected to play against a strong wind and up the hill in the opening half. To be level at half time would have been a good scoreline but St Brigids dominated proceedings from the start & soon were leading comfortably 0-4 to 0-0 after 10 minutes. Andy Boyle opening the scoring with an impressive point from long range. It was a day of scorers from underage football with Ciaran Byrne scoring his first point in around five years and then Paul "The Butcher" Brady rifling over a point from corner back. Keith Morris added another point before Boyle found the net after some great interplay between Craven & Brady down the right wing. Further scores were tagged on by the improving centre forward Conor Hayes and corner forward Andy Kavanagh. The defence were very solid holding Ballyfermot scoreless in the first half. John "Marathon" Dunning led from centre back with the ever improving Gerry Hughes putting in another big performance.

The second half opened with Ballyfermot showing more determination and they eventually opened their account with a fine score from the right wing. St Brigids soon added on more scores with Keith O'Neill pointing from close range. Ballyfermot fought hard in the 2nd half but were unable to cope with the free scoring St Brigids forward line. Well done to the lads on another fine performance. Keep up the good work.
