Ladies Intermediate Footballers Narrowly defeat Parnells in Champo Final Re-run - Fri, 27 Apr 2007

St Brigids  2-11 Parnells 1-13

The Inter Ladies gained a narrow victory over Parnells on Wednesday night in Coolock.  Parnells were out for revenge after the championship final defeat 2 years ago and a thrilling game ensued.  Brigids opened the scoring with a Katie Murphy point and a suburb goal form Aine Cullen, Parnells were never going to sit back and responded almost immediately with scores of their own.

Some excellent defensive play from Caroline Mc Groary and Aoife Cullen prevented Parnells from gaining an advantage and it was not until the second half that they edged in front. Rose Holland responded, driving forward from midfield to score two points only for Parnells to come back each time. 

This resulted in an exhilarating finish with some confusion on the final whistle as to which team won! Fortunately for the Brigids girls, the effort was worthwhile and the won by the smallest of margins.
