Inter Footballers Blitz Round Towers with 5 Goals in League Clash - Sun, 26 Aug 2007

St Brigids 5-12 Round Towers 0-8

The Intermediate Footballers produced a great performance to defeat Round Towers in this top of the table clash. The lads opened brightly playing into the wind leading 0-2 to 0-0 after ten minutes with Cussen & Brady opening their accounts. Towers leveled the game 0-2 to 0-2 with the help of Homan who was playing some good football at full forward.

Enda Kane edged the lads ahead but Towers soon had their spell & raced into a two point lead by the 25th minute. Tom Hughes soon found the net after reacting fastest to a ball which rebounded from the post. Leading by 1 point at the break, the lads weren't happy to sit back & within minutes of the restart from the net with Ciaran Greene breaking from deep.

Mick Cussen added three frees to push the lads ahead & a run of three goals soon broke Round Towers resistance. This game could turn out to be a massive turning point in the season with the lads sending out a message to all other teams. Well done & keep up the good work.
