Senior Footballers Advance to Champo Quarter-Final defeating Erin's Isle - Sat, 22 Sep 2007

St Brigids 0-15 Erins Isle 1-6

Brigid's recovered from a nightmare start to run out six points winners over a committed Isles in Friday night's Dublin SFC clash at Parnell Park. It was a clash that pitted Brigid's forward Johnny Noonan and sub David against their father Mick, a selector for Isles.

Isles settled immmediately on the throw-in with Niall Crossan pointing in the opening minute. Playing with greater passion and organisation the Finglas side kept the foot to the floor and had opened up a 1-4 to 0-1 lead by the 19th minute.

Their goal came from the penalty spot when Paul Murray beat Graham Rodgers. Brigid's looked set to respond with a goal of their own but 'keeper John Reaney defied the below par Kevin Bonner, who was well curtailed throughout by Gary O'Connell, from close range.

But before the close of the half the accuracy of Rory Gallagher dragged Brigid's back into the game as they trailed by 1-4 to 0-5 at the break. The second half belonged to the Russell Park outfit with Graham Norton in particular driving his men on from wing-back.

Only a minute into the new half Reaney was again to the fore when he saved a Rory Gallagher penalty but Brigid's did not let that upset them as they lifted their game significantly to book their place in the last eight. Paddy Andrews had an excellent second half as he slotted four stylish second half points. Dominant Brigid's should have goaled in the 50th minute when Gallagher fumbled possession with his side enjoying a three-on-one opportunity up against Reaney.
