Inter 2 Footballers Progress to Joy Cup Semi-Finals defeating Good Counsel - Wed, 21 May 2008

St Brigids 1-14 Good Counsel 2-07

Despite being without the services of nine players - through injury, hurling and exams - St Brigids Intermediate 2 footballers managed to overcome Good Counsel in Galtymore Road on Sunday morning to secure their place in the Joy Cup Semi-Finals. The Russell Park men were in the ascendancy at the break, leading 0-6 to 1-02 following points from Allan Hughes, Paul Whitty and Colm Doyle. However, the games decisive score arrived 10 minutes after the interval when Stephen Moore clinically finished to the net having being put through on goal by a clever Colm Doyle pass.

Although Good Counsel replied with a goal of their own with just over 10 minutes remaining, points from Paul Greaney and Dessie Carolan sealed a deserved Brigids win on a score line of 1-14 to 2-07.

St Brigids: James Campbell, Phil Kelly, Niall Ryan, Joe Toomey, Se Smith, Allan Hughes (0-1), Tony Hughes, Kevin Bonfil, Dessie Carolan (0-4), Colm Doyle (0-2), Gordon Cribbon (0-1), Paul Greaney (0-1), Stephen Moore (1-1), Paul Whitty (0-4).
