Junior B Hurlers Fight Back From Killer Blow to beat Clontarf in Champo - Mon, 23 Jun 2008

St. Brigids 0-14 Clontarf 1-10

The Junior B Hurlers looked destined to lose this game after leading from the 10th minute to the 60th minute but a cruel blow in the first minute of injury time looked like Clontarf had claimed the spoils. Trailing by 2 points, Clontarf were piling forward and speculative shot from their corner forward was deflected in by Ferghal Philips. It was very unlucky on Philips who had been outstanding throughout the game along with Paul Carter & Cian O'Sullivan in the full back line.

The next three minutes really showed what this team is about. Tim O'Leary launched a high puckout to Neil Plunkett who fed sub Dabhach Dineen who ran 40 yards before slotting over. Most teams would have settled for the draw but the lads went for the kill. John Dunning intercepted a Clontarf pass and lauched the sliotar into our forward line. Noel Kidd broke the ball down to the on rushing Brian Condrum who slotted over for the winning score.

It was a tremendous win for the lads, their second away victory of the Championship campaign. The now head their group with five points from a possible six with two games remaining. It was without doubt their best performance of the year with Neil Plunkett back to his best scoring four points along with long range free taker Brian Mulcahy. Minors Brendan Roche & Dillion Casey also showed well battling very well for every ball. Seamus Lynam led the line well from centre forward. Well done to all and keep up the good work.
