Junior Hurlers Continue Good Form Beating Round Towers in High Scoring Thriller - Wed, 1 Jul 2009 St Brigids 3-14 Round Towers 3-13
Timmy O Leary's Junior Hurlers maintained their excellent league form on Sunday morning when they defeated Round Towers of Clondalkin in AHL 6 in an exhilarating contest. Played on ideal conditions in Monastery Road, the Brigids men made a great start with Brian Condron firing to the net from long range after only 5 minutes. Towers replied with a goal of their own soon after and the game remained a score for score battle right up until the half time whistle with the away side leading by 1-09 to 1-07. Spurred on by the outstanding full-back line of Cian O?Sullivan, Eoin Tynne and Sean Frane, the Castleknock men poured forward at the beginning of the second period and following a long range goal by captain Noel Kidd and a sublime individual effort by John Dalton, Brigids led by 7 with little over 15 minutes remaining. Further scores followed from the ever reliable Brian Mulcahy and Mark Kehir and despite a spirited late Towers revival, the Russell Park men deservedly held out for a 3-14 to 3-13 win. The lads now face Ballinteer St Johns, who are currently top of the AHL 6 table, on Friday evening at 7.45 in Russell Park. Well done to the Tim and the lads and keep up the good work.
