Inter Footballers Come Back From Dead Against Ballymun Kickhams in League - Wed, 2 Jun 2010

The 'never say die' spirit of our Inter footballers was in full view on Saturday evening as they came from 5 points down with less than 10 minutes remaining to snatch victory over Ballymun. The home side flew out of the blocks and were 1-01 to no score in front after 10 minutes with Paul Whitty netting the all important 3 pointer. Ballymun responded with 0-02 of their own before a controversial penalty saw the sides go in level at half time, 1-02 a piece.

Ballymun began the second half in the same manner Brigids did the first, scoring 1-02 without reply. However, points from Ciaran Greene and corner back Phil Kelly kept the home side within touching distance as the game entered its final minutes.

A Paul Whitty point reduced the deficit to two points with a minute remaining and when a ranging Des Carolan pass was broken down on the edge of the square via a combination of Kevin Bonfil and Stephen Moore, Gordon Cribbon was on hand to scramble the ball to the back of the net.

Well done to Noel, Dave, Greener and the lads who continue their league campaign against Naomh Mearnog in Portmarnock at 7.15 on Wednesday evening.

St Brigids: C. Boyle, T. Hughes, S. Smith, P. Kelly (0-01), C. O Sullivan, C. Plunkett, A. Hughes, K. Bonfil, G. Cribbon (1-0), C. Greene (0-01), S. Moore, J. Toomey, E O Brien, C. Doyle (0-01), P. Whitty (1-04).
