U9 Footballers vs St Thomas's

A local derby in keeping with the weekend that was in it was played in Russell Park on Saturday last between St Brigid's and St Thomas's. Playing for St Brigid's on Team 1 were Sean O'Connell, Geoff Brooks, Ian McQuillan, Ciaran Meade, Aaron Connolly, Zudi Emara, Stephen Murphy. And playing on Team 3 were Tadhg Brannigan, Luke Purthill, Stephen Daly, Eoin McAuley, Gary McCabe, Kevin Keogh, Conor Brown, Liam Campbell, David Frayne, Owen Kirk

In a good running game St Brigid's Team 2 brought the game to their opponents, backs James Griffin, Anthony Healy & Niall Chambers defended heroically, depriving St Thomas's of many scoring opportunities. In mid-field Shane Hourihane, Sean Dunning and Conor Feeney consistently challenged the opposition's attack, with some fine passes well caught by Sean O'Malley who together with Ciaran Galvin solidly chased chances to score, with the final point of match being scored by Donal McConville to win that game for St Brigid's. Three wonderful games of football were played in all. Brigid?s won 2 of the 3 games with St Thomas's pipping the home team by 2 points in the overall score. Keep up the good work lads!
