Junior Footballers enjoy great weekend in Ballinskellings County Kerry

The Junior Footballers of the Club travelled to Ballinskellings County Kerry for the June Bank Holiday. A group of twenty four travelled to the beautiful town of Ballinskellings situated on the tip of Ireland. The lads flew down with Aer Arann on the Friday and enjoyed a testing training session on the Friday Night. Paul Carter stood out with his dance moves in the Night Club. It was the first time that their new sponsors jersey's graced the field. Brian "Stan" Kevlehan has generously sponsored the lads.

The Match was a very entertaining game with both sides eager to impose their style of play early on. Friday Night's training regime looked like it was taking its effect when the lads conceded two early goals but they clawed their way back into the game to trail by 3 points at the break. The lads started brightly in the second half & where soon level. Ciaran Byrne contributing massively after moving from full-back to midfield. The lads drove on & their superior fitness showed in the end winning on a scoreline of 1-16 to 3-7. We would like to thank St Michaels / Foilmore was such a sporting game & await their return to the capital later this summer. We would also like to thank Ballinskelligs local Mike Kelly for all his help as well.

The lads thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and St Brigids are very grateful to the locals for making us feel so welcome. A great weekend was had by all. A big thank you to Chris Lynam for organising the trip. I have a feeling that a few of the lads will be back down in the near future.
