Sporting Heroes Celebrate in Style - Sat, 22 May 2004

Over the Easter bank holiday weekend the local sporting heroes of St Brigid?s were presented with their Dublin and Leinster championship medals at a function in the Citywest Hotel. This presentation was a fitting end to a fine year for the Senior Football team who following on from being crowned Dublin Champions last October and Leinster champions in January this year reached the all Ireland Semi final of the AIB club championship. In another example of co-operation between different sports the medals were presented by Irish International Rugby player Shane Horgan and a very enjoyable night was had by the large attendance. This year?s Dublin Senior Football championship kicks off in just a couple of weeks on Sunday May 9th when St Brigid?s must do it all again against near neighbours Lucan Sarsfields. This game will be played in Parnell Park at 5PM and a good crowd is anticipated. It will certainly be difficult to reach the lofty heights of last year but with Gerry McEntee at the helm again and aided this year by Brigid?s stalwart Declan hopes remain high. It promises to be a really interesting summer this year as Brigid?s have a total of 12 adult teams taking part in Dublin Hurling, Football, Camogie and Ladies Football championships this year.
