Junior 1 Footballers reach Promotion Final defeating Naomh Olaf - Wed, 21 Dec 2005

Well done to the Junior 1 Footballers who defeated Naomh Olaf to reach the Junior 1 Promotion Final where they will face Erins Isle. Well done to Voilet & the lads. Keep up the hard work, you are only one more game away from Intermediate Football next year.

St Brigids 1-4 Naomh Olaf 0-6

St Brigids dominance of the opening half proved the deciding factor in this Adult Football Division 5 Promotion Semi-Final. St Brigids aided with the breeze opened the game with real purpose as free scoring wing-back Mick McGovern fired over a point from 40 yards. Must be up for score of the year. Then the deciding score of the game came as Peter Mulgrew fisted the ball to the Naomh Olaf net after some neat interplay between Brian Fogarty & Enda "Stato" Lynch. Conor Clavin was outstanding in midfield, supplying the forwards with ample ball.

The backs kept Naomh Olaf scoreless in the opening half but a tougher challenge was ahead with Naomh Olaf playing with the aid of a strong breeze in the second half. St Brigids tagged on two further points to end the first half with a flurry leaving the sides 1-3 to 0-0 at the half time.

St Brigids started the second half as they finished the first with Kevin Donovan firing over from close range. Naomh Olaf rallied late in the second half but St Brigids were always in control especially with Conor Clavin & Enda Kane playing so well in midfield. The backs played very well as a unit to only give 2 points away from play. Well done lads & best of Luck in the Final.
