St Brigids Junior 9 footballers continued their rise through the Adult Football ranks as they clinched the League title last weekend. The team in its first year of competitive football has done remarkably well winning a league title and reaching the Championship Final to be played in a few weeks time.

It has been a real squad effort with all thirty players contributing to the team's success this year. The year started off with a narrow one-point victory of St Martins but the team has vastly improved since then. Comfortable wins against White Colmcilles, Thomas Davis followed by a very tough game against Wanderers put the team in pole position at the top of the league table. Round Towers of Clondalkin were emerging as St Brigids main title contenders as they were matching St Brigids one hundred percent record. St Brigids pressed on concentrating on their own game defeating Ballyboden St Endas & Lucan Sarsfields. The league title was always going to be decided when St Brigids would meet Round Towers. The title decider was real hum dinger with St Brigids defeating Round Towers by the narrowest of margins, one point. The team survived several tough encounters during the league campaign but showed great character and determination to defeat all opponents.

The team has now turned its attentions to the fast approaching Championship Final. St Brigids have played some excellent football during their Championship campaign defeating some high fancied teams. The championship started off with St Brigids defeating Nh Olaf in a very tough encounter on a score line of 0-5 to 0-3. Nh Olaf, two divisions ahead of St Brigids. St Brigids then defeated Division 11 league toppers Skerries Harps in real high scoring affair. The semi-final clash was by far St Brigids toughest. St Finnians of Swords pushed St Brigids all the way but St Brigids defeated St Finnians by one point to reach the Championship Final. All players are training hard and are looking forward to the Championship Final.
