Premutations for the Dubs Quarter-Final Opponent - Wed, 27 Jul 2005

Premutations for the Dubs Quarter-Final Opponent

Alot of people have been wondering about who is the Dubs next opponent in the All-Ireland Quarter-Finals. Well here are the possible opponents that we can meet depending on the outcome of the 4th Round Qualifiers played this Saturday:

  1. Armagh Winner Tyrone v Monaghan **
  2. Dublin Winner Laois v Derry **
  3. If Monaghan and Derry win, it is Armagh v Monaghan, Dublin v Derry
  4. If Tyrone and Laois win, it is Armagh v Laois, Dublin v Tyrone
  5. If Laois and Monaghan win, it is Dublin v Monaghan, Armagh v Laois
  6. If Derry and Tyrone both win, it is Armagh v Derry and Dublin v Tyrone

** The Competition regulations state that teams should be kept apart as far as the All Ireland semi-finals "where feasible". However they also state that "a draw......shall provide that the respective Provincial champions do not meet the defeated finalsists from their own Province in (the Quarter Finals)". Thus even though Armagh and Derry have already met in the Ulster semi-final, they could play again at this point **
