U21 Footballers advance to Champo Final with Superb Display defeating Kilmacud Crokes - Wed, 12 Apr 2006

St Brigids 2-8 Kilmacud Crokes 1-9

Well done to the U21 Footballers who produced a superb display to defeat Kilmacud Crokes to advance to the Championship Final where they will face St Judes or Thomas Davis. The lads got off to a slugish start & trailed by 4 points with minutes remaining before half time. Brigids produced a power packed 6 minutes with Mark Cahill & captain Odhran McCann pointing and Willa Corbett finding the back of the net after Paddy Andrews & James Brogan cut open the Crokes defence with some fine interplay.

The sides were level at the break & Brigids suffered a set back within minutes of the second half starting when free scoring forward Willa Corbett was carried off injured. Lorcan McCarthy proved an ample replacement turning in a superb display. Cillian McCann was also produced off the bench & must be pushing for a starting place in the final on his second half performance. Brigids trailed by a point entering the final minutes but Paddy Andrews saved the best til last when he fired Brigids into the Championship Final with a superbly taken goal from distance. A great team performance from all. Great to see Dabhach Dineen & James Brogan back in the fold. Dave Fitzmaurice turned in a masterful display on Dublin Star Mark Vaughan holding him scoreless.
