Junior A Footballers Continue to Progress defeating Naomh Barrog in League - Tue, 17 Jul 2007

St Brigids 4-9 Naomh Barrog 0-6

St Brigids Junior 1's followed up Tuesday's top of the table victory over Scoil Ui Chonaill with a convincing win over Naomh Barrog in Sunday morning's AFL Division 5 clash in Russell Park. The full forward line of Stephen Moore, Paul Witty and Willa Corbett were in blistering form scoring 1-1 apiece from play in the first half to leave the Castleknock men in a commanding position at the interval.

The introduction of Alan Beirne, who was returning from injury, ensured that there was no let up in the scoring after the break, as he clinically finished to the net after excellent work from Colm Doyle. Further points from Campbell, Moore and Witty soon followed to complete the scoring. A fine attacking display was complimented by another solid defensive performance as tireless work from the O'Sullivan brothers and Kevin O'Donovan, in particular, kept Naomh Barrog's tally to 0-6. The lads now have one final league game vs. Raheny next Tuesday (24th) in Russell Park at 8pm before the 4 week summer break.

Half Time: St Brigids 3-4 Naomh Barrog 0-3

St Brigids: Kevin O'Donovan, Tony Hughes, Niall Ryan, Phil Kelly, Cian O'Sullivan, Seamus Smyth, Eoin O Sullivan, James Campbell (0-1), Paul Greening, Mark Kerr, Joe Cassidy, Colm Doyle, Paul Witty (1-4), Stephen Moore (1-2), Willa Corbett (1-1)

Subs: Alan Beirne (1-1) for Joe Cassidy, Willie O?Donnell for Mark Kerr, Gerry Hughes for Phil Kelly, Conor Hayes for James Campbell
