Junior A Footballers Capture League Title in Style defeating Kilmacud Crokes - Mon, 19 Nov 2007

St Brigids 2-12 Kimacud Crokes 1-7

The Junior A Footballers capped a great year with a convincing win over Kilmacud Crokes in their final league game of the season. With Intermediate Football already guaranteed, the League Title was at stake. The lads could have potentially slipped up against a dangerous Kilmacud side but this was never going to happen with Noel Cassidy urging his charges on from the sideline.

As always, their defence was the foundation for the win with Seamus Smith and the ever dependable Tony Hughes having outstanding games. Gordon Cribbins had a fine game, goaling twice in the first half and creating several scores. Midfielder Des Carolan chipped in with four points from play as the lads dominated the opening half.

Leading 2-7 to 0-1 at the break, the game looked over but Kilmacud fought back well but were never going to peg back a twelve point deficit. Paul Whitty kept the scoreboard ticking over with his accurate left peg. With a lead built up, Cassidy had the opportunity to give their ample panel a run out as well, a great luxury in such an important game.

Well done to the lads on their fine acheivement. Four years ago, they resided in Division 7. They have also picked up the Junior B & C Championships as well. We all look forward to your tussle with Voilet Muldoon's Intermediate side next year.
