St Brigids 0-12 Ballymun Kickhams 1-9

The Senior Footballers made their exit from the Championship despite not losing a game in the group stages of the Championship. It was quite disappointing to see points difference determine their fate. A highly competitive game between ourselves and Ballymun Kickhams was played in a sun drenched Portmarnock. Leading by one point going into extra time, the lads looked like they had done enough but a late point from Ballymun's Derek Byrne drew the game for Ballymun.

Ballymun opened the game brighter scoring the opening two points before Declan Lally sprung to life as he cut through Ballymun's defence with ease, supplying Andrews and Bonner with amble ball. Brigids led 0-4 to 0-2 after 15 minutes and soon began to push on with Lorcan McCarthy adding two points to lead 0-6 to 0-2. Ballymun narrowed their deficit with a Derek Byrne point before former Dublin player Ian Robertson punched a high ball to the net to level up matters. Andrews added another point to his tally in the final play of the half.

Leading by one point at the break 0-7 to 1-3, Ballymun opened the second half brighter scoring the first three points before Brigids powered back into the game with Kevin Bonner and Paddy Andrews causing all sorts of problems. The reserved their deficit to a point lead entering the dying minutes. The sides swapped the lead before Lorcan McCarthy put Brigids in front before Byrne popped up to break the lads hearts with the final kick of the game.
