St Brigids 2-8 Erins Isle 1-5

Our Intermediate 2 footballers produced a dominant and committed display to defeat Erin's Isles by 2-08 to 1-05 in their AFL 4 encounter in Russell Park on Sunday morning. In what was a blistering start, the home side stormed into a 2-03 to 0-1 point lead as excellent finishes by Gordon Cribbon and Willa Corbett saw the Castleknock men move into a commanding position they would not relinquish. Given that Erin's Isle lay in 4th position before the game, it wasn't a surprise that the Finglas side fought back with an early goal in the second half.

However, with Dessie Carolan's forward runs causing the Isles defence countless problems, it wasn?t long before Paul Whitty and Carolan (0-3) himself sealed a deserved Brigid's win. The victory leaves the Inter 2 footballers lying in 4th position in AFL 4 with one league game remaining against Champions elect Garristown. The lads need something from this game to guarantee themselves a play-off place and a possible promotion to AFL 3.

St Brigid's: Kevin O Donovan, Tony Hughes, Sé Smith, Joe Twomey, Allan Hughes, Cormac O Sullivan, Cian O Sullivan, Kevin Bonfil, Dessie Carolan (0-3), Paddy McAvenue (0-3), Joe Cassidy, Stephen Moore, Willa Corbett (1-01), Gordon Cribbon (1-0), Paul Whitty (0-1).

Subs: Mark Kehir for Joe Cassidy (inj) (45) Colm Doyle for Stephen Moore (45) Mark Moore for Willa Corbett (60)
