Our Senior 2 footballers deservedly defeated Whitehall after a hard earned one point victory over Whitehall. The first half was an evenly contested affair. Points from Dave O'Connor, Daire Plunkett and Anto Briody edged the home side into a slender 0-5 to 0-03 half time advantage.

The lads upped their game considerably in the second half and immediately from the restart, Briody extending the Brigids lead to 3 points with an excellent thirty yard point. Dave O'Connor was causing all sorts of problems with his cross field runs. Any time he got near the ball, he was fouled. Driven forward by the surging runs of Cathal Doyle and Felim Condrum the lads soon began to find holes in the Whitehall defence.

Brian Donovan was the man to capitalise as he expertly pointed a long Seamus Bonner Lynam free which was kept in brilliantly by Daire Plunkett. Briody increased the lead to 5 points to secure the 2 points. The stubborn resilience of the Brigids midfield and defence was once again superb, especially in the second period. Whitehall scored a late penalty with the last kick of the game to get within one but it was all too late.
