Inter 1 Footballers Keep Survival Chances Alive With Win Over Inisfails - Wed, 23 Sep 2009

St Brigids 1-10 Innisfails 1-05

Our Intermediate 1 footballers produced a fine all round team display to defeat Innisfails on a score line of 1-10 to 1-05 in their AFL 4 League clash on Saturday evening. With several long term injury victims now on the mend, the strength and confidence of the squad which was so evident last season is now gradually returning.

This was particularly noticeable in the final third of the field, where points from Cillian O'Dea (0-01), John Dalton (0-02) and veteran midfielder Dermot Kehily (0-01) gave the Russell Park men a solid foundation upon which they could build. Cormac O'Meara (1-01) then underlined Brigids superiority, converting a fine free flowing move with aplomb after a lapse of concentration in the Innisfails defence. The win gives the lads a much needed boost before their final two league games against St Finians (N) and Lucan as they bid to beat the drop to AFL 5. Well done to the lads and keep up the good work.
