Warren Finnegan & Chris Dorney - All-Ireland Football Champions 2008 - Sun, 27 Jul 2008

Congrats to Warren Finnegan, Chris Dorney & the Dublin Juniors on their historic All-Ireland Final win over Roscommon. Warren Finnegan scoring 2 points.

Dublin claimed their first All-Ireland JFC title since 1971, thanks to a strong second-half display by an eager Blues attack at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise yesterday. Dublin burst out of the blocks early on and with centre-half-forward Karl Connolly leading the charge, they took a 0-5 to 0-2 advantage midway through the half, with defender Eamon Towey and full-forward Fintan Cregg on target for Roscommon.

Connolly had an excellent goal chance in the 21st minute, but his effort blasted off the crossbar. Despite Dublin's dominance Roscommon finished strongly with points from Frankie Dolan, Fintan Cregg and Derek Moran, in a 12-minute spell before the break to cut the gap to the minimum on a 0-6 to 0-5 half-time score-line.

But Roscommon failed to find that positive second-quarter form on the restart as Dublin edged into a 0-9 to 0-6 lead by the 41st minute, as Roscommon could only manage two second-half points, with a 59th-minute score from substitute Darren Homan putting a seal on a Dublin win.

Scorers: Dublin: A Darcy (2f), K Connolly 0-3 each, J Cooper, W Finnegan (1f) 0-2 each, O O'Gara, D Bastic, D Homan 0-1 each. Roscommon: D Moran 0-2 (2f), F Dolan, F Cregg, B Higgins, E Towey, C Garvey 0-1 each.

Dublin: C Clarke; D Daly, M Fitzsimons, C Prenderville; M White, A Dennis, N Brogan; D Bastic, C Daly; R Joyce, K Connolly, J Cooper; W Finnegan, O O'Gara, A Darcy. Subs: D Homan for Joyce (42), C Norton for Finnegan (55), N Tormey for Connolly (62).
