Senior 2 Footballers Fall To Parnells in Hard Hitting Promotion Semi-Final - Fri, 27 Nov 2009
St Brigids 0-6 Parnells 1-7 The Laois Lion, Colm Parkinson, capped a brilliant individual display with the game's only goal as Parnells beat St Brigid's 'B' in the Dublin AFL Division 2 Promotion semi-final at Russell Park last night, 1-7 to 0-6. Dublin goalkeeper, Stephen Cluxton, also played his part coming out of goal to convert a '45' which gave the Coolock men a 0-5 to 0-1 lead. Parnells stretched this by the break to 1-6 to 0-2. Martin Whelan settled the Coolock side with a couple of fine early points. Whelan impressed at full-forward where his fielding and neat distribution caused the hosts problems. Brigid's played well in the second period and were coming strong at the finish, but Parnells defended well and they used possession wisely. Darren Myler was strong at full-back. Time and again he foiled moments of Brigid's promise. Parnells will now meet the winners of St Maur's v Round Tower Clondalkin for a place in Div 1. Erin's Isle, as champions, have already gone up. |
