U21 Footballers Fail to Reel in Kilmacud Crokes in Cracking Champo Game - Sun, 6 Dec 2009

St Brigids 2-4 Kilmacud Crokes 1-10

Our U21 Footballers just failed to complete a great comeback as they fell short to Kilmacud in an epic game. The games was played at a serious pace with numerous inter county players on show. Crokes were awesome in the first half and restricted us to 2 pointed frees while they scored 1-5. The 2nd half was a totally different story as we began to assert serious pressure with changes on the team. Collie Carr narrowed the gap with a pointed free and then Aodhan McEnerney had the ball in the Crokes net. Crokes soon realised there were in a serious game and Barry O'Rourke and Kevin Nolan added pointed to edge them 4 points ahead. Paddy Andrews responded with a goal to narrow the gap to 1 point. Andrews flicking a high ball to the net.

A talking point after the game was the ref's decision not to award Collie Carr a penalty for a high challenge(above) by Cian O'Sullivan in the dying minutes. The game turned on this decision as Crokes tagged on 2 late points. Hard luck to the lads and hopefully we can plough on next year with 14 of the starting 15 eligble for next year.
