Inter Footballers Beat Round Towers Lusk in League Opener By Seaside - Mon, 1 Mar 2010

St Brigids 0-14 Round Towers (L) 1-04

Our Intermediate footballers got their 2010 AFL 4 League campaign off to the perfect start as they comfortably saw off the challenge of Round Towers in Lusk on Sunday morning. The Russell Park side powered out of the blocks and led 0-6 to 0-02 after 20 minutes with Paul Whitty, David Buckley and Mick Gahan all on target.

Unfortunately for the visitors an uncharacteristic lapse in concentration presented Towers with a path back into the game, as a sloppy goal reduced the deficit to a single point at break. However, it did not take long for the Blanch lads to reassert their dominance as Colm Doyle (0-03), Neil Brady and the Mick Gahan all swung over fine points to stretch the lead to 7 points. Towers to their credit replied with two late frees before substitute James Campbell settled the contest with a fine individual score.

St Brigids: K. O'Donovan, T. Hughes, S. Smith, G. Hughes, C. O'Sullivan, J. Twomey, C. Greene, K. Bonfil, G. Cribbon, D. Buckley (0-01), J. Cassidy (0-01), M. Gahan (0-05), P. Whitty (0-01) C. Doyle (0-03), M. Kehir.
