Inter Footballers Reach Champo Semi-Finals With Gutsy Display Against Parnells - Wed, 12 May 2010

Our Inter footballers dug deep once again to drag themselves into the semi-finals of the Junior Football Championship after a pulsating battle with Parnells on Tuesday evening. While Russell Park was basked in glorious sunshine before throw in, a torrential downpour made handling conditions difficult for both teams. This was reflected on the scoreboard as the sides were level at the interval 0-04 each, with Colm Doyle and Paul Whitty on target for the Brigids men.

As the rain continued to fall, Parnells edged ahead for the first time in the game to lead 0-06 to 0-05 with Stephen Mills converting two close range frees. Mick Gahan replied with a '45 before his glorious effort from all of 35 yards gave the hosts a slender lead they held onto until the final whistle.

The lads now face St Monicas in the semi final which is due to be played on the 28th or 29th of August. In the meantime, they face Man O War in the quarter final of the Loving Cup on Saturday week (22nd) at 6.15 in Russell Park. Well done to the lads and the management team of Noel, Alan, Damo, David and Paddy on their hard earned win.
