Inter Footballers Continue to Motor in League defeating Naomh Mearnog in Portmarnock - Fri, 4 Jun 2010

Our Inter footballers claimed their second league victory in 4 days after overcoming the challenge of Naomh Mearnog in a hard-fought battle in Portmarnock.

The away side got the dream start when wing-forward Ciaran Greene fired to the net after only five minutes, while points from Neil Brady and Eoin O Brien added to the early Brigids tally.

Mearnog's responded with 1-01 of their own just before the break which saw the home side edge into a slender one point lead. However, the introduction of speed-merchant David Buckley in the 35th minute proved crucial as his pace created gaps in the tiring Mearnog's back line. The ever reliable Paul Whitty was on hand to capitalise as his goal, coupled with four massive Colm Doyle points, saw the Brigids men into the winners enclosure.
