Senior Footballers Comtinue Good Form beating Lucan Sarsfields in 12th Lock - Tue, 24 Apr 2012

St Brigids 2-16 Lucan 0-15

Our Senior footballers continued their fine early season form with a comprehensive victory over Lucan in AFL 1 on Sunday morning, moving them joint top of the AFL 1 table. Early scores from Mark Cahill and Lorcan McCarthy gave the lads an early lead before captain Shane Supple expertly dispatched a penalty midway through the half to leave Mark Byrne?s men firmly in the driving seat. Barry Cahill, who amassed an impressive 1-05 over the 60 minutes, added a second goal before the interval leaving the lads 9 points clear, 2-08 to 0-05 after 30 minutes.

The second half followed a similar pattern with John O Loughlin, Craig Kilmurray and Cian Mullins all adding to the already impressive scoring. Lucan, to their credit, responded with several fine points late in the game but excellent defending from Collie Freeman and Alan Daly ensured that they were mere consolation scores. Next up for the lads is the first round of the Senior Football Championship V Thomas Davis in two weeks? time.
