U21 Hurlers have to do it all again after drawing with DIT in Champo - Mon, 27 Feb 2006

St Brigids 1-8 DIT 0-11

The U21 Hurlers will have to meet DIT again after drawing in a tough encounter. Not for the faint hearted, tackles flew in left, right & centre in the blustery conditions. Brigids played with the aid of a strong wind in the opening half & led by five points at the break but suffered a blow within ten minutes of the throw-in losing Aidan O Leary to injury. O'Leary was in fine form & fired over a superb point to edge Brigids ahead within five minutes. O'Leary's replacement Joe Jordan proved an ample replacement playing some outstanding hurling in the full back line. Sean Sullivan was inspired in centre back as was full back Keith Morris. Leading by five at the break, Brigids knew they would be under pressure in the second half with DIT playing with the wind at their backs. Sean Sullivan extended Brigids lead with a fine effort from a placed ball. Brigids held DIT at bay for the opening fifteen minutes of the half but DIT fired over four unanswered points to leave the minimun between the sides going into injury time. DIT levelled it up three minutes into injury time with a free from distance. Well done lads on the fine performance. Keep up the good work.
