Junior B Hurlers Open League Campaign With Win over Croabh Charain - Tue, 1 Apr 2008

St Brigids 2-9 Croabh Charain 1-10

The Junior B Hurlers opened their League Campaign with a hard fought win over Croabh Ciaran in Clonsaugh. With their opening league game versus Clontarf being postponed, the rust was evident as the lads struggled in the opening five to ten minutes. Gerry Byrne was well oiled up as he found back of the net in the 10th minute when flicking a high ball to the net. Brian Mulcahy (above) soon followed suit as his long distance free found the back of the net.

Charain's rallied with two points in quick succession & were gaining the upper hand. Several positional switches by the management renewed the Brigids effort with Mulcahy & Mulcahy on target to close out the first half. Leading 2-3 to 0-4 at the break, Charain's were sure to pile on the pressure with a gale wind at their backs.

The 2nd half surge didn't materalise at the start of the 2nd half as Brigids fired over two more points. Brendan Roche & Brian Condrum on target. It all looks to be going too easily but Charain's came back with a bang. They scored two points and a goal to leave one between the sides entering the last ten minutes but Brigids rallied and Captain Willa Corbett fired over a superb point from his own 65' into the wind to win the match.
