Senior Hurlers beat Naomh Mearnog in Championship Relegation Play-off - Sun, 26 Oct 2008

Our Senior Hurlers put in an impressive display in terrible conditions in Blakestown. A gale force wind blew down the wind which we played up the first half. It was going to be all hands to the pump playing into such a strong wing but forwards Ciaran Kellit & Stephen Callinan eased the pressure with timely scores when under pressure. Kellit scoring 3 points in the opening 15 minutes with Callinan grabbing the goal after some great work from Keith Morris. The defence stood strong with Joe Jordan, Sean Sullivan taking no prisioners in the full back line. Brian Kelly swept up any lose ball to drive the team forward. The lads led 1-8 to 1-5 at the break with Mearnog grabbing a late goal.

The second half one way traffic with Aodhan McEnerney(above) turning in an impressive display from centre back scoring two points. Cian O'Mahony, Tim Cleere & Paddy Avenue kept the pressure on around the middle to keep the scoreboard ticking over for a deserved win.
