Aodhan McEnerney Lands All-Ireland Colleges Hurling League Title with DIT - Tue, 16 Dec 2008

Congrats to Aodhan McEnerney (above) who was part of the DIT team that claimed Ulster Bank Freshers Division 1 Hurling league title with victory over UCC.

DIT 2-13 UCC 2-10

DIT claimed their first Ulster Bank Freshers Division 1 Hurling league title at Dr Morris Park, Thurles on Thursday night following a hard earned three-point win over UCC. Trailing by 2-7 to 0-8 at the interval, after Waterford corner-forward Thomas Ryan hit two opening half goals for UCC; DIT dominated in midfield on the resumption to stage a superb second half display.

Centre-half-back Michael Moloney and team captain Michael Fagan led by example from defence for DIT as the Dublin college held UCC scoreless until the 17th minute of the second half, at which stage DIT drew level at 0-13 to 2-7 thanks to a point from Cuala and Dublin U21 David Treacy, while Aodhan McEnerney (St Brigids) and Shane Murphy (Cuala) also contributed to the scoring tally. UCC took a two-point lead with nine minutes remaining thanks to scores from Luke OFarrell and Ryan, but late goals from Moloney and Offaly senior Daniel Currams ensured DIT were not to be denied silverware.
